The Rubik’s Cube is a 3-D combination puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. The Rubik’s Cube is quite an engaging puzzle! Many use this puzzle religiously to work on their motor skills, concentration, and logical thinking skills. It is still among the most successful products sold in history. Its simple design along with enticing complexity challenges and attracts people across all ages of life.
I have been intrigued by the algorithms to solve the cube for many years now. So it is in this context that I invited Siddhikant Mishra to share his journey with us on the Rubik’s Cube.
“Siddhikant is a Final year Masters student majoring in Mathematics and Statistics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata. As a hobby, he speed-solves Rubik’s Cubes i.e. the art of solving Rubik’s Labelled puzzles as fast as possible. He can solve a standard Rubik’s Cube in 9 seconds on an average. He is recognized as one of the fastest solvers of the Rubik’s Cube in the world by the World Cube Association and has been awarded 21 Gold, 13 Silver, and 4 Bronze Medals in various WCA Speed-cubing competitions across India. His journey to reach this level involved learning algorithms, understanding the intuition behind these algorithms, and lots of practice.”
So friends here is the Video – hope you enjoy the conversation with Siddhikant Mishra on the Vedic Maths Forum India YouTube Channel.
